If you are new to handguns, this is a great introduction to everything you need to know to start your self-protection journey.
This course is a complete guide to understanding the basics of firearms ownership, safety, and nomenclature, and how it applies to home- or self-defense. After this class, students will feel confident to act as their family’s first line of defense in the event of a home invasion or other critical incident.
Additional Notes from Your Instructor
Electronic Hearing Protection and ANZI Rated Eye Protection are REQUIRED. Walker Electronic Hearing Protection can be purchased from Sportsman & Ski Haus Kalispell store. ANZI Rated Eye Protection here: https://sspeyewear.com/?rfsn=4329829.0abf25c&utm_source=refersion&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_campaign=4329829.0abf25c ONLY Brass Cased FMJ ammo is allowed on the range; you will not be allowed to use aluminum or steel cased ammunition on our range. Ammunition recommendation is for the opportunity for you to shoot the qualification, if you didn't pass, or experience ammunition issues. The required number of rounds for this course is just over 200. You are HIGHLY encouraged to purchase the book and read Chapters 1, 4, and 5 at a minimum prior to class. The book is titled CONCEALED CARRY AND HOME DEFENSE FUNDAMENTALS. This book can be purchased from us or from Sportsman & Ski Haus Kalispell store. If you are unfamiliar with shooting handguns, this may not be the best initial course to attend. If this is you, you may want to schedule some private range time with us prior to the class to assist in your success. RANGE SAFETY: This is our priority on the range. Our Range Safety Officer cannot get caught up in instructing a student while we are firing. Our experience has shown that even though a student has been around firearms their whole life, they may not be experienced with safe handgun handling and operation. That said, when a student is struggling with the safe operation of their handgun, we have two options: 1) cease fire and all students standby while that student is worked with taking corrective action and instruction; or 2) pull them from the line to observe and during a reloading break, the instructor provide direction of safe handling/operation, which may require more time than the reloading break.
