DEFENSIVE SHOOTING FUNDAMENTALS Training Your Mind and Body to Respond
So you took your class, received your permit in the mail, and bought a firearm that will serve as your concealed carry gun.....Now what?..... The DSF curriculum will steer through the static training most are familiar with, into actual training in specific tested methods of armed self-defense. Topics covered will include stance, grip, to physical shooting techniques that gets your body working with your gun instead of against it. Intuitive skills that work within what the body does naturally while under stress in a combat situation will be discussed and drilled so that the end user can apply them simply and efficiently. The class begins with a safety briefing and delves into: Warrior Expert Theory Counter-Ambush Training Work well with what the body does naturally The Balance of Speed and Precision The "Most Likely" Distance Stance and Movement Presentation from "Ready" Position Grip and Trigger Control Presentation from the Holster One-Handed Shooting Shooting from Retention & Reloading And... What We'll Teach
Defensive Shooting Fundamentals - Level 1
Over 1 million students have taken the U.S. Concealed Carry Association’s course offerings across the nation. The Defensive Shooting Fundamentals class can be taken by anyone of any skill level. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced shooter, you will walk away from this course a better protector of yourself and your loved ones.
You will learn the concept of balancing speed and precision to begin the course, understanding your individual limits, the importance of accurate hits to target, and ability to quickly engage with a target.
Other drills may include:
- How to present from the holster
- How to perform an emergency reload
- Lateral movement

Purchasing a gun is part of the self-defense journey, but knowing how to safely and effectively use it is even more important. Education and training are critical methods to ensure students will be ready if they’re forced to use their firearms to defend themselves and their loved ones.
Additional Notes from Your Instructor
PREREQUISITES: You must have taken any Valid Permit to Carry Course from a Certified Instructor. You must complete the E-Learning portion before you may attend the course. Each course is cumulative and you MUST pass the previous course to move forward into the following WHAT TO BRING: Semi Auto Firearm .380 or larger (One can be provided at an additional cost) 3 Magazines and mag carrier (Double Preferred) Outside the Waistband Holster At Least 250-300 Rounds of premium factory ammo (NO STEEL OR ALUMINUM CASES) per level. Eye and ear protection if you have it.
