My Biography
As a small boy growing up in Northern Minnesota, I have always enjoyed being outdoors. 1966 I attended the MN DNR Youth Hunter Safety Program. After that I spent many autumn afternoons hunting grouse, rabbit, and deer. It was relaxing and a way to put some meat on the table. After graduating from the Drafting Program at Bemidji Area Vocational Technical School, I enlisted in the Navy.
After reporting to my first duty station, Naval Air Station Memphis, I was introduced to competitive rifle and pistol shooting. Although my main occupation was that of drafting, surveying, and soils testing, I enjoyed being on the range teaching others. Becoming proficient as an instructor has many benefits. I would spend many weeks on the range during homeport and for several months, while stationed at Argentia, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, I was the base armor and firearms instructor. After leaving the Navy I took a 20-year sabbatical from shooting.
Do not get me wrong, I spent many days and weeks outdoors. I spent several years treating ornamental landscapes for diseases and other pests. I spent almost 15 years as a commercial truck driver touring the United States and Canada. Upon retirement, I searched for something to do.
I was on the range one day and noticed folks struggling with loading a magazine. I talked with friends only to discover there is a need for excellent firearms instruction. I learned that defensive shooting is vastly different from competitive shooting. Muddy Boots Firearms Academy has the ability to guide you on your shooting adventure. I look forward to talking with you about your firearms training needs.
