What You'll Learn

Lead Instructor: Laura Michaels Cost: $150 with FREE repeats Maximum Class Size: 16 $20 rebate for purchasing both Women's Handgun and Handgun II at the same time

This is the place to start for beginners and any female without prior, formal handgun training. Our Handgun Level 1 class has been improving every year since 2008, but some female shooters feel more comfortable learning introductory level pistol without any male students in the class. We wanted to make sure those students had a resource to learn without male students.

8:00am-5:00pm

This class will be the official USCCA "Women's Handgun and Self Defense" course with additional parts of Handgun 1 added in.

Certified USCCA Women's Handgun and Self Defense instructors will teach the official USCCA class plus more. There will also be top-of-the-line firearms training aids used in class to increase efficiency.

Morning is "classroom" including hands-on work with revolvers, semi-automatics, and dummy ammunition Gun Safety—foremost and always!

Handgun knowledge—revolvers and semi-automatics Ammunition and hygiene when shooting Fundamentals of handgun shooting Gripping revolvers and semi-automatics Loading Unloading Reloading Dry firing Cleaning

Note: Handguns (.357 revolvers) and custom ammunition loaded to extremely low levels are provided and included in the price. We also provide .22 caliber pistols. We finish the class with a sampler of multiple calibers including 9mm, 38 Special, etc.

You only need eye protection and ear protection, with "muff" type ear protection best.

The location of this course will be either our southwest Fort Wayne range or the Izaak Walton Huntington chapter range. The location is determined the week of class based on availability and location of the students. You will receive an email with directions.

"Handgun 1 was just what I hoped for to be educated on safety, proper handling, anatomy of a firearm, technique, etc. It was educational, with plenty of opportunities for questions. It removed removed fear of the process without ignoring safety. Both John and Laura are excellent and engaging instructors and very supportive of whatever comfort level you are currently at in the process of learning. I would highly recommend this class as someone who came with zero knowledge and left with practical information that everyone should be aware of, Regardless of whether or not you own a firearm. "

"John was an excellent teacher. He imported a lot of knowledge to us and took us through a wide range of firearms along with stance. I felt him to be a fair teacher also. He was very patient with me and I’m sure he wanted to pull out his hair trying to teach me something, but I appreciate it. he’s worth A lot more than he charges for the class.."
