Paul Martin

Paul has a long history with firearms, receiving his first .22 rifle from his Dad in 1961. Since then he has shot rifle, shotgun, revolver, and pistol and participated in county wide lawman competitions, placing 2nd in the Expert Division, when he served as a Deputy Sheriff. In 1986 he certified as an EMT and in 1989 as a Paramedic. He went on to qualify as an instructor in advanced life support, becoming the senior medic for a local rescue squad, training officer, and scene manager of medical triage. When Illinois approved concealed carry Paul obtained the requisite license and continued his study of sporting rifle and pistol and defensive use of weapons. He became certified with the USCCA as an instructor, with the NRA and the USCCA as a Range Safety Officer, and with the online modules of the lawful use of lethal force with Andrew Branca. Paul continues his education in mastering pistol and AR-15 through additional courses and private instruction. He is widely read in a variety of firearm and self defense disciplines and routinely follows some of the nation's best instructors. Paul is currently serving a local congregation as full time pastor and volunteers his time with the largest full time / part time fire and rescue department in the State of Illinois as a department chaplain. Chief among his concerns as an instructor is to stress the fundamental rules of firearm safety, to present a reasonable and judicious use of lethal force, and to stay within the bounds of self defense law so that in the unthinkable requirement that you use lethal force you win, not only the fight but the potential legal battle to follow.
