Cash, check, and credit/debit cards accepted.
This is a fun, safe, and informative class that will give you a lot of great information about carrying, shooting, and staying out of trouble.
IMPROVE YOUR CCW KNOWLEDGE Idaho is an amazing state when it comes to 2nd Amendment rights. Constitutional Carry is the law of the land. Even if you don't need or want an ECWL, this course will help you to carry SMARTER.
You'll be more situationally aware. You'll have a game plan should you encounter an escalating situation. And if you are forced to defend yourself, you will be ready to do it in the most effective, legally defensible way.
Every full-price student will receive a copy of USCCA's "Concealed Carry and Home Defense Fundamentals, 2nd Edition" (normally $35) to keep. This book covers the topics reviewed in class and more, and is a great reference to refer back to from time to time.
OBTAIN YOUR IDAHO ENHANCED CWL Idaho's Enhanced Concealed Weapons Licenses is among the most recognized in the United States. It is honored by 39 states and counting!*
An Idaho ECWL streamlines your firearms purchases. Instead of waiting for NICS to clear your firearm purchase, you simply show your ECWL and the background check is waived.
Having an ECWL also exempts you from some of the restrictions on carrying at public colleges/universities in Idaho and from portions of the federal Gun Free School Zone Act while in Idaho.*
This course also meets the requirements for several states' non-resident permit/license - including Oregon and Arizona.**
PICK THE BRAIN OF A LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER OR FIREARMS ATTORNEY - Included in your course fee is a 90-minute presentation and Q&A with a local law enforcement officer or attorney who specializes in firearms law. This is a great opportunity to get your burning question answered!
BRING A GUEST FOR HALF PRICE! Share the knowledge and save some money! Each student who enrolls at the $139 rate may bring one guest for half price ($69.50). Bring a spouse, friend, coworker, relative (18+), etc. Guests registered at the discounted rate do not receive a textbook, but may purchase one at a discounted price of $25.
THE NUTS AND BOLTS This course is a total of 8 hours. 6 hours in the classroom, 2 hours on the range.
The classroom session is on Saturday 8/16 from 8:00 am - 3:00 pm at the Mountain Home Parks & Recreation Office (795 S 5th W St, Mountain Home). Coffee and water will be served.
We will be using replica/plastic/fake firearms in class, so for the sake of safety, no functional firearms or live ammunition is permitted in the classroom session. Thank you for your understanding.
Student will then attend one 2-hour outdoor live fire session in the BLM Morley Nelson Snake River Birds of Prey National Conservation Area west of Mountain Home (alternate location is Black’s Creek Range in Kuna).
The sessions will include a maximum of 4 students to ensure that you get maximum shooting time and instruction.
Available live fire sessions are:
- Session A: Sunday, August 17, 9:00 am - 11:00 am
- Session B: Sunday, August 17, 11:30 am - 1:30 pm
- Session C: Saturday, August 23, 9:00 am - 11:00 am
- Session D: Saturday, August 23, 11:30 am - 1:30 pm
Live fire sessions may be postponed if rain, snow, lightning, sub-27° temperatures, or 100°+ temperatures are forecast… or if the live fire area is not safely accessible due to mud/snow/ice.
For the live fire session you'll need:
A handgun. Semi-automatic preferred, but revolvers are OK too.
150 or more rounds of ammunition. No steel core, armor piercing, incendiary, or tracer rounds. Full metal jacket factory-loaded ammo recommended.
At least two magazines for your semi-auto handgun, or speed loaders/strips for your revolver. Bring more if you have them!
Eye protection. Impact/shatter resistant safety classes recommended. Prescription or non-prescription eyewear is OK.
Holster work will NOT be part of the live fire training, so one is not required.
I sincerely hope that you'll consider joining us for this info-packed class. I am passionate about concealed carry and 2nd Amendment rights, and I look forward to sharing some skills and knowledge, facilitating some good class discussion, and having a safe and fun time while doing so.
- Firearm and CCW laws are often VERY specific and they can vary widely from state-to-state. This class will provide an overview of some the things to watch out for and common pitfalls, but make sure you fully research laws that apply to the jurisdiction and situation you'll be carrying in. Consult an attorney with any questions.
** Successful completion of this course satisfies the TRAINING requirement for permits/licenses in Idaho, Oregon, Arizona, and several others. Issuance of a license/permit is contingent on satisfying ALL of the requirements of the issuing state. We will discuss these requirements more in class.
Cancellation Policy: Students are required to cancel at least 7 days in advance of a class date in order to receive a full refund. Reschedules are 100% flexible. Just give me as much notice as you can, please. Life happens. I’ll work with you!
What We'll Teach
Defensive Shooting Fundamentals
This lesson will continue with the basics, including a very visual overview of what we call the “building blocks” or the fundamentals for accurate and safe shooting. Within this lesson, Michael Martin will explain the differences between the skills required for being a good “marksman” at the range, and the skills that might be required to save your life if you are ever the subject of a violent attack.
Additional Notes from Your Instructor
Due to several recent incidents raising safety concerns, Sig Sauer P320 pistols may not be used during this course at this time.
