Our CA CCW Initial course is SB2 Compliant. California Senate Bill 2 (SB2) refers to legislation that, among other things, sets forth requirements for concealed carry weapon (CCW) permits, which includes a comprehensive 2-day course compliant with California Penal Code section 26165. This course includes various components related to firearm safety, legal aspects, and mental health and wellness discussions. Here is a summary of the course components and their relevance to SB2:
Day 1 Components
- Firearm Safety: Emphasis on universal safety rules to prevent accidents.
- Handgun Fundamentals: Understanding handgun nomenclature and operational procedures.
- Shooting Techniques: Learning proper stance, grip, sight alignment, trigger control, breath control, and follow-through.
- Conflict Avoidance: Techniques for avoiding confrontations.
- Psychology of Violent Encounters: Understanding the mental aspects of violent situations.
- Legal Aspects of Using Deadly Force: Legal guidelines and actions to take after using force.
- Permissible Use of Firearms: Laws regarding where and how firearms can be used.

Day 2 Components
- Handgun & Shooting Fundamentals Review: Recap of essential skills.
- Proper Draw Stroke from Concealment: Training on drawing from an OWB holster.
- Clearing Malfunctions: Understanding and resolving firearm malfunctions.
- Dynamic Movement: Training on shooting while moving.
- Reloads: Techniques for emergency and tactical reloads.
- Defensive vs. Marksmanship Shooting: Differentiating between defensive and precision shooting.
- Shooting Behind Cover & Concealment: Techniques for using cover and concealment.
- Live-fire Practical Drills: Basic and advanced shooting skills practice.
- Live-fire Qualifications: Performance assessment in live-fire scenarios.
Cancellation Policy: Students are required to cancel at least 48 hours in advance of a class date in order to receive a full refund. Classes cancelled less than 48 hours before the class will not be refunded.

Concealed Carry and Home Defense Fundamentals is a comprehensive classroom course for anyone considering owning or carrying a firearm for self-defense. If you are new to handguns, this is a great introduction to everything you need to know to start your self-protection journey.
This course is a complete guide to understanding the basics of firearms ownership, safety, and nomenclature, and how it applies to home- or self-defense. After this class, students will feel confident to act as their family’s first line of defense in the event of a home invasion or other critical incident.
Additional Notes from Your Instructor
** $50 Range fee (cash) required at time of check-in on day 1! MANDATORY EQUIPMENT (Student must bring all items listed to class on Day One for our mandatory Gear Check) Documentation * Valid California DMV issued driver's license or ID Firearms and Equipment Handgun(s): * Revolver or semi-automatic (full-size or compact). You need one main training gun and must bring all guns you want to put on your permit to both days of the class. * All guns listed on your permit must be registered to you with the State of California. Magazines or Speed-loaders: * Twin magazine pouches * 3 magazines or one speed-loader for each gun. * Strong side outside-the-waistband (OWB) KYDEX belt holster (no cordura nylon or leather) for each gun you wish to qualify with. We highly recommend: Vedder Holsters and Blade-tech OWB Kydex holsters WE DO NOT ALLOW BLACKHAWK SERPA HOLSTERS Ammunition: * 350 rounds for the main training gun. An additional 50 rounds for each additional gun for qualification testing. Clothing: * Front opening jacket or vest, medium weight, that covers the holstered handgun * Eye and electronic ear protection. We recommend Howard Leight or Walkers amplified headphones. Class Procedures Safety Protocols: * Firearms must be unloaded and cased. * Do not bring any ammunition into the classroom; leave it in your vehicle. Additional Notes * No extra charge for qualifying with multiple guns.
