My Biography
Tom Nguyen is a USCCA & NRA certified Instructor & Range Safety Officer. He offers outdoor private & monthly group lessons in the Los Angeles area. His work has been featured on CNN, Time Magazine, Wall Street Journal, L.A. Times, and The Guardian.
As a refugee who fled a war, Tom understands that guns can be triggering and have traumatic associations in many marginalized communities. After witnessing a gun homicide in the 90s, Tom started training with handguns, rifles and shotguns.
Upon seeing scores of new gun owners who would've never considered firearms before the pandemic and civil unrest, he founded L.A. Progressive Shooters in 2020 as a non-intimidating, non-judgmental and inclusive community, focused on safety and education, for people new to firearms to experienced shooters wanting to improve their skills and fundamentals.
When Tom is not teaching, Tom regularly competes in USPSA pistol competition and is constantly honing his craft with continuing professional development with top trainers nationwide.
