What You'll Learn
Our 5-hour Basic Home Defense Shotgun Class is a beginner-friendly, hands-on course designed to teach participants the fundamentals of using a shotgun for home defense. Tailored for those new to firearms or shotguns, the class covers essential firearm safety, basic shotgun operation, proper stance and grip, ammunition selection, and simple aiming techniques. Through expert instruction and live-fire drills, students practice loading, unloading, and firing in a controlled environment, with an emphasis on building confidence and safe handling. The course also introduces basic home defense concepts, including situational awareness and legal considerations, ensuring participants are prepared to responsibly protect their homes. Participants must bring their own shotguns and ammunition, and class sizes are limited to provide personalized attention.
Bring 100 rounds of bird shot, 10 slugshot, 20 buckshot, and an ammo pouch
Cancellation Policy: There are no refunds. Students are required to cancel at least 48 hours in advance of a class date in order to receive credit for future classes.
What We'll Teach
Defensive Shooting Fundamentals
This lesson will continue with the basics, including a very visual overview of what we call the “building blocks” or the fundamentals for accurate and safe shooting. Within this lesson, Michael Martin will explain the differences between the skills required for being a good “marksman” at the range, and the skills that might be required to save your life if you are ever the subject of a violent attack.
Additional Notes from Your Instructor
$20 cash for the range fee. Handgun is optional. We will incorporate the handgun for those that bring it. Bring 50 rounds of handgun ammo if you decide to bring your handgun.
