Mandatory Gun Education - in Schools?
Chad Baus
In the past month, no less than four Ohio children, aged eleven, ten, eight and four, have injured or killed people with firearms. Two of the victims, aged eight and two, were shot by their respective siblings. One of the victims, shot by his eleven year-old neighbor, was seven. Three of the victims died of their injuries.[1]
In all but one case (wherein a four year-old boy shot his 18 year-old babysitter with a shotgun because she had accidentally stepped on his foot) the shootings have been ruled accidental.
While the typical reaction . . .

Did the 2008 Elections Give Gun Control a Mandate?
Chad Baus
In March, 2008, a Gallup poll found that an overwhelming majority of the United States public--73%--believes that the Second Amendment guarantees the right of Americans to own firearms. Yet, to hear the Brady Campaign To Prevent Gun Violence (formerly Handgun Control Inc.) tell it, America voted overwhelmingly in support of gun control just a few months later.
Consider the following from a Brady bunch report published just hours after the polls closed last November . . .

You Don't Have to Love Your Teammates
Roger D. Curry, JD
It's the bottom of the last inning in a rough softball game at the city park, two out, runners at second and third base, we lead by one run, and the other guys are at bat. We get this last out and we win. Our pitcher winds up and throws. The batter hits a high fly to deep center. Our center fielder is under it, ready for the catch. Out of the blue, our pitcher squeals like the PETA princess at a barbecue, "No-o-o-o-o! Don't catch it!" Startled and confused, the center fielder looks away. The ball drops. Two runners score, game over, we lose. Miffed, all our guys ask the pitcher, "Why'd you do that?!?" The pitcher pouts and whines, "He's left-handed and he's dating the batter's sister! You're either with us or you're against us!"
Ain't it great to be a pure-hearted LOSER? That's just what you are when you . . .

Mandatory CCW Classes?
Larry Correia
Recently there was a newspaper article posted to an internent firearms discussion board. The article was a typical slanted piece, where the reporter's bias against regular people carrying guns was obvious. The article hinged on how easy it was to get a concealed carry permit. Someone in the forum pointed out that the Florida shooting test was easier than what a police officer had to pass. This inevitably kicked off an argument between the posters about mandatory testing. Keep in mind, these are gun people.
There is a divide in the concealed carry community. Many believe that a permit should be received only after compleating an in-depth training class and passing a mandatory shooting test. The other side believes . . .

(Calguns alert) Oral Arguments in the Nordyke case will be held January 15, 2009
The Calguns Foundation would like to invite you to the Oral Arguments in the Nordyke case.
Nordyke is the case that will make the landmark DC v Heller case apply to California. This means an individual right to firearm ownership.
It is quite important for the actual Nordyke appeal that we pack the courtroom and the overflow. Our counsel would like to be able point out the large number of "The People" sitting in the courtroom that day who believe . . .

Brady Law Reinterpreted by Bureaucrats to Deny Firearms Rights to Non-Criminals
Greg Bailey
Editor's Note: The following is a private rant I received via email a few days ago. It was too good -- and too much to the point -- to allow it to languish in my in box, so I'm sharing it with you all. Whenever someone refers to "reasonable gun control," please remember this story and don't be fooled by the rhetoric. There are hundreds of such cases every day!
I was hoping to buy another several weapons to add to my "arsenal", beginning with a 20 gauge 11/87 parkerized with synthetic youth stock to teach my daughter Ingrid to shoot. However . . .

JPFO Liberty Crew: Making Change Happen
L. Neil Smith
I used to believe, naively, that if the American people ever managed to learn the truth about their nation's history and its current situation, there would be a revolution, or at least some kind of major, sweeping reforms. Now, a trifle older, sadder, wiser, I understand that the instant they start to hear the truth, a reflex pounded into them by the public school kicks in. They shut their eyes as tight as they can, slap their hands over their ears, and chant over and over in a shrill voice, "I'm not . . .

California, Orange County Crisis: Your Help Needed!
Greg Goodall
As many of those who participate in the USCCA Forum already know, the recently appointed sheriff of Orange County, California (Sandra Hutchens, formerly of the LA County Sheriff's Department) has begun revoking CCW on a large scale, and without cause. On November 18, the Orange County Board of Supervisors will be addressing the newly appointed Sheriff to discuss the controversy surrounding her new highly-restrictive CCW Policy.
Anyone with an interest in preserving their CCW rights and privileges is highly encouraged to attend the meeting and make their presence felt! The Board must . . .

If You Bought a Gun This Week ...
Kathy Jackson
If you bought a gun this week, you're not alone. While exact figures aren't yet available, gun stores across the nation reported record-breaking sales in the days following the national election.
"Sales have been… well… brisk. Maybe a better word would be insane. We've sold out of everything three times over, and we're bringing in more guns as fast as we can find them and call in favors. If you're waiting for something, let's put this in perspective. I talked to Stag the day before the election and they had received orders for 6,000 rifles in the last few days. They were out 4 weeks [backordered], and that was before" the election, reports Larry Correia of FBMG, Inc., a gun store near Salt Lake City, Utah. When I talked to him Saturday night, he added that sales had only gone up since the blog entry that quote came from was written, and that Saturday had been their biggest sales day in the history of the store.
FBMG was not alone in that. According to an AP report, on Election Day, Franklin Gun Shop (near Nashville, Tennessee) experienced . . .

This organization had received, and promptly forwarded to the mailing list, a press . . .
