The "Sad Sisterhood" of Victims
Catherine Feltych
The "Sad Sisterhood" of Victims Recently, I happened across an article in the local newspaper about the devastation two women had experienced at the hands of the same violent criminal. One victim was attacked in the parking lot of a local university where she was a vice president. The criminal threatened her with a knife and demanded her purse and car keys. She gave him the keys and purse while pulling away from him. Running in high heels, she screamed for help as vehicles passed by and the criminal drove off in her car. Two weeks later, another woman was beaten by the same man as she left the public school where she taught. As she tried to escape, she tore knee ligaments, which . . . keep reading
Firearm Feminism
Janine Peterson
Firearm Feminism In the several years I lived alone in DC, I watched the police chase down and arrest people outside my apartment window. I nervously walked by the muggers, trying to be casual. Luckily for me, I lived near several gay bars, and the muggers set their sights on the drunken gay men, not on a young female. I lived fifty yards from the park where intern Chandra Levy was found dead. My neighbors were robbed. I embraced luck as my tool to keep myself safe and alive. What else could I do? I despaired over how I could defend myself, even in my apartment.

I studied karate for five years; long enough to earn a black belt. In college I studied aikido, and my instructor there showed me . . . keep reading

A Question of Courage
Skip Coryell
I have long believed that the fate of the Second Amendment ultimately lies in the hands of women, so Jeanne Assam is a comforting ray of hope for me. Let's face it, the women outnumber us men, so if they don't support the right to keep and bear arms, then it could well fall idly onto the ash heap of history as a good idea that just didn't stand the test of time. We can't let that happen. . . . keep reading
Embarrassing Questions
Kathy Jackson
Embarrassing Questions It has been said that there are no embarrassing questions, only embarrassing answers. That may be true. But if that's the case, why do we always blush when we ask the questions? . . . keep reading
Gun Fit
Kathy Jackson
Gun Fit From working with beginners, I can tell you that many of the hardest-to-fix shooting problems come from dealing with equipment that Just Doesn't Fit. The shooter may be struggling with a lever that can't be reached or a fat grip that keeps . . . keep reading
Giving a Gift Gun
Kathy Jackson
Giving a Gift Gun As the gift-giving season approaches, many people who are enthusiastic about concealed carry become eager to purchase firearms for their loved ones, especially for the women in their lives. And why not? Such a purchase often symbolizes . . . keep reading
"A Woman's Perspective:" It's You and Me Against the World
Kathy Jackson
"A Woman's Perspective:" It's You and Me Against the World I once shot in a competition at our local range where the participants were divided up into five-person teams. The goal of the stage was to knock down 15 steel targets . . . keep reading
"A Woman's Perspective": The Importance of Lasers - An Interview with Marty Hayes

"A Woman's Perspective": The Importance of Lasers - An Interview with Marty Hayes It will hardly come as a surprise to most reading this to hear that lasers are controversial within the shooting community. From those who swear by them to those who swear at them . . . keep reading
"A Woman's Perspective:" Turning Fear Into Safety
Kathy Jackson
"A Woman's Perspective:" Turning Fear Into Safety The difference between fear and panic is knowing what to do. If you have a reliable, effective solution, then fear is an asset. You know what to do, and fear just makes you do it faster. . . . keep reading

"Gun Store Miss Adventures"
Kathy Jackson
"Gun Store Miss Adventures" When a woman purchases her first defensive handgun, she begins a personal journey that is often exciting and frequently bewildering, and it usually provides a few unexpected bumps and thrills along the way. Sometimes her journey . . . keep reading
Finding Your Reason

Finding Your Reason "It'll just get taken away from you and used against you." This annoying and offensive sentence, with its unspoken accusations of female inferiority and lack of resolve is nevertheless based upon an important foundational truth. . . . keep reading
Concealed Carry for Women

Concealed Carry for Women Leaving aside for one moment the ridiculous bra-mounted pistols that Ursula Andress wore in a deservedly-forgotten spy movie of the 1970's, there are real problems for women who want to carry a concealed firearm. . . . keep reading

But What Do I Tell My Mother? - And Other Vexing Social Questions
Kathy Jackson
My mother is the person who made me. And she’s done it twice. I don’t remember a lot about the first time, because it began when I was too young to remember much of anything. But I clea . . . keep reading

 TESTIMONIALS
Here's what our members are saying ...
"Your website and magazine have many helpful articles and most importantly, an opportunity to hear from like-minded people who take self protection seriously. For many of us that carry it has been both an "evolution" from thinking about carrying to a full-time commit-ment and a "revelation" that we can enjoy freedom to protect our loved ones from attack.
Norbert Quenzer
Delmar, NY

U.S. Concealed Carry addresses absolutely every self-defense issue of concern to intelligent Americans today, provides vital information regarding products, services and organizations relevant to concealed carry and communicates critical self-defense information.
William M. Splawn
Irmo, SC

I am writing to express my complete satisfaction with U.S. Concealed Carry. I find your no-nonsense, real world focus, to be a refreshing change from other gun publications. I found the CCM Profiles to be especially good. It was good to see other concerned citizens speaking out on CCW matters. It makes the rest of us feel less like “gun nuts” and more like a community of concerned and squared away citizens.

Just a quick note to let you know that I really appreciate what you are doing and the courage it has taken for you to be “just a regular guy” who cares enough to do something worth doing! You are to be congratulated for your commitment and your convictions. Both have motivated me to do all I can to “spread the word” and to “protect our rights.”
